Elite 14 Showcase

The newly named Elite 14 Showcase was founded by a high school located on the border between two rival states (Texas and Oklahoma).  The Texas/Oklahoma Shootout (the original name) was introduced in September 2004 as a means to showcase the abundance of basketball talent between the two neighboring states.

Although showcasing talent was the premise, the pride of state dominance would provide the unique intensity that would make the Texas/Oklahoma Shootout become the first of its kind throughout the entire nation.  After several years known as a ten team ‘Texas/Oklahoma Shootout’ (five teams from each state) interest grew from schools outside these two states borders and after securing commitments from several nationally ranked schools from neighboring states a new name was needed to  replace the former name of the Texas/Oklahoma Shootout.

In preparation for the 2009 Showcase, the list quickly grew past ten teams with numerous others clamoring for an invitation.  Due to budget and gym limitations the decision was made to cap the number of teams at fourteen representing school. In September 2009 the Elite 14 Basketball Showcase was introduced and a logo designed and trademarked.   In only a few short years interest from numerous high school around the region along with great support from sponsors and supporters (fans, family members, and local churches) the 2013 Elite 14 Showcase was able to expand to its then maximum capacity of twenty-four teams from six states (TX, OK, KS, AR, NM, and NV).

After securing the 2017 field calls and contacts from many other top high school programs and coaches from around the region kept flooding in expressing interest to participate.  Once we were granted approval from our local officiating chapter the decision was again made to expand the field and after partnering with City View ISD to utilize the wonderful facilities the 13th Annual Elite 14 Showcase field was set at thirty-two teams.  In the short thirteen years of existence the Elite 14 Showcase has drawn national media attention with write-ups in High School Sports the Magazine, ESPN.com, Maxpreps.com, Rivals.com, Okhoops.com, Texasboysbasketball.com, Ballislife.com, and Metroplexhoops.com just to name a few.

The Elite 14 Showcase has featured several individuals that have been selected as McDonald’s All-Americans, Jordan Brand All-Americans, Boost Mobile 24 All-Americans, and numerous NBA draft picks. With so many talented individual performers and nationally ranked teams, the Elite 14 Showcase has and will continue to attract the nation’s top college coaches from the top universities.  Each Elite 14 Showcase now attracts coaches from nearly all the BCS Conferences along with numerous mid-major Division-I, Division II, NAIA, and Junior College conferences.

Annually, there are reported over 100 college coaches in attendance at each showcase. The Elite 14 Showcase committee will continue to research and invite the nation’s top individual performers and high school programs which will allow this event to gain an even larger national audience.
